Passed 1Z0-040, Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Administrators today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been an Oracle geek a long time, I&#8217;ve been certified since Oracle\u00a08 days.\u00a0 Recently I haven&#8217;t kept up with these like I should, so I decided to freshen my certification up before Oracle retired the upgrade exams.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a current Oracle\u00a09i Database Administrator Oracle Certified Professional (DBA OCP), so to get Oracle 10g DBA OCP all I need is to pass the <a href=\"https:\/\/education.oracle.com\/pls\/web_prod-plq-dad\/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&amp;p_exam_id=1Z0_040\">10g upgrade exam (1Z0-040)<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Porter_OCP_DBA_10g.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1073\" title=\"OCP_ODb10gAdmin_clr\" src=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/OCP_ODb10gAdmin_clr.gif\" alt=\"OCP_ODb10gAdmin_clr\" width=\"142\" height=\"95\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->This one was &#8220;like I remembered&#8221;.\u00a0 Pretty straightforward.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/OCP-Features-Administrators-1Z0-040-Certification\/dp\/0782143555\/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1291758886&amp;sr=8-3\">I read a big fat book<\/a>.\u00a0 Actually did some of the practice exercises from the book.\u00a0 Did the cheapo computerized practice exams that came with the book.\u00a0 Bought a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.selftestsoftware.com\/product.aspx?product_id=1Z0-040\">real practice exam from Kaplan Self Test<\/a> and did it like 50 times until I always scored 100%.<\/p>\n<p>Last I took an Oracle exam, their exam vendor was <a href=\"https:\/\/prometric.com\/Oracle\/default.htm\">Prometric<\/a>.\u00a0 They have since changed to <a href=\"https:\/\/pearsonvue.com\/oracle\/\">Pearson Vue<\/a>.\u00a0 Having used both vendors (Microsoft uses Prometric), I&#8217;d say Pearson Vue is much friendlier.\u00a0 Prometric&#8217;s web site is often down or slow.\u00a0 I like Pearson&#8217;s web site better.\u00a0 I like the formatting of the emails they send you (i.e. the registration confirmation email has directions to the test site included at the bottom).\u00a0 The test engine lets you right click possible answer to cross them out (handy when you are trying to exclude distractors).\u00a0 All in all, taking a test with Pearson Vue was a better experience.<\/p>\n<p>Now I need to take the <a href=\"https:\/\/education.oracle.com\/pls\/web_prod-plq-dad\/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&amp;p_exam_id=1Z0_050\">11g upgrade test<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been an Oracle geek a long time, I&#8217;ve been certified since Oracle\u00a08 days.\u00a0 Recently I haven&#8217;t kept up with these like I should, so I decided to freshen my certification up before Oracle retired the upgrade exams.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a&hellip;
