{"id":2270,"date":"2013-04-25T11:48:34","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T18:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/?p=2270"},"modified":"2013-04-30T11:51:47","modified_gmt":"2013-04-30T18:51:47","slug":"sf-bay-area-ucs-users-group-april-25-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/?p=2270","title":{"rendered":"SF Bay Area UCS Users Group &#8211; April 25, 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/UCS-UG-logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2269 alignleft\" title=\"UCS UG  logo\" src=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/UCS-UG-logo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"238\" height=\"147\" \/><\/a>As a new Cisco <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/en\/US\/products\/ps10265\/index.html\">Unified Computing System<\/a> user, I recently attended the quarterly SF Bay Area UCS Users Group on April 25, 2013 at <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=3979+Freedom+Circle+7th+Floor,+Santa+Clara,+California+95054&amp;hl=en&amp;sll=37.35681,-121.924059&amp;sspn=0.08337,0.181789&amp;hnear=3979+Freedom+Cir,+Santa+Clara,+California+95054&amp;t=m&amp;z=16\">Cisco in Santa Clara<\/a>.\u00a0 It was informative and I&#8217;m glad I went.\u00a0 The public is invited to these, so if you have UCS or want to talk to someone who has UCS, you should register and come on down.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--> There were perhaps 30? people there on this day.<a href=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/cisco_hq.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2266 alignright\" title=\"cisco_hq\" src=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/cisco_hq-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 The event is hosted by Cisco, and facilitated by various Cisco employees, notably <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/bill-lulofs\/24\/950\/98a\">Bill Lulofs<\/a>, who is one of the consulting design engineers for Unified Data Center in Northern California.\u00a0 Cisco and Fusion IO provided lunch.<\/p>\n<p>This group is just getting started, so right now there are a lot of presentations from vendors, and not so much group member interactions.\u00a0 That is typical in my experience with new groups like this.\u00a0 I imagine as we meet more, that we&#8217;ll mature into less vendor, more group interaction.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2276\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/20130425-SF-Bay-Area-UCS-Users-Group-Agenda.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2276\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2276\" title=\"20130425 SF Bay Area UCS Users Group Agenda\" src=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/20130425-SF-Bay-Area-UCS-Users-Group-Agenda-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2276\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Agenda<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>First up at 1100 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/javanewyk\">Jacob Van Ewyk<\/a> from Cisco (they had a last minute presenter change, so I can&#8217;t recall if the presenter was Jacob or an alternate&#8230;)\u00a0 He covered new changes to the <a href=\"https:\/\/jeremywaldrop.wordpress.com\/2012\/11\/23\/cisco-ucs-firmware-2-1-new-features-overview\/\">latest UCS<\/a> and UCS Central.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2267\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/cisco_presenter.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2267\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2267\" title=\"cisco_presenter\" src=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/cisco_presenter-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2267\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I turned my flash off so as to not bother the presenter, and got some shake.
