{"id":2306,"date":"2013-05-28T18:11:22","date_gmt":"2013-05-29T01:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/?p=2306"},"modified":"2013-06-02T15:11:52","modified_gmt":"2013-06-02T22:11:52","slug":"manager-tools-effective-manager-conference-28-may-2013-san-jose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/?p=2306","title":{"rendered":"Manager Tools Effective Manager Conference &#8211; 28 May 2013, San Jose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/manager-tools.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2304\" title=\"manager tools big ad\" src=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/manager-tools-big-ad.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a>I attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/manager-tools.com\/\">Manager Tools<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/manager-tools.com\/effective-manager-conference\">Effective Manager Conference<\/a> in San Jose on 28 May 2013.\u00a0 This was a great introduction to Manager Tools concepts, like one on ones, feedback, and coaching.\u00a0 If you are in a hurry to get up to speed on Manager Tools, and you don&#8217;t have time to listen to all twenty some Manager Tools &#8220;Basics&#8221; podcasts, then you should go to an EMC&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Manager Tools is a website and podcast <strong><\/strong>focused on helping managers become more effective and focuses on the practical aspects of becoming a better manager.<sup>\u00a0 <\/sup>The show, hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/michael-auzenne\/0\/201\/b36\">Michael Auzenne<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/mark-horstman\/0\/a3\/373\">Mark Horstman<\/a>, was awarded People&#8217;s Choice Podcast from Podcast Awards in 2008, and won the Best Business Podcast award in three consecutive years 2006, 2007 and 2008 and again in 2012. The podcast, together with the sister podcast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manager-tools.com\/podcasts\/career-tools\">Career Tools <\/a>is unique through its combination of a series of simple steps to follow for effective practice, in combination with a good background on how these recommendations lead to the best results.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/EMC-agenda.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2307\" title=\"EMC agenda\" src=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/EMC-agenda-231x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/EMC-agenda-231x300.jpeg 231w, https:\/\/greg.porter.name\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/EMC-agenda.jpeg 637w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/a>The basics of Manager Tools is encapsulated in the twenty something &#8220;Basics&#8221; podcasts.\u00a0 These podcasts cover the basic principles of the (four part !?) &#8220;Trinity&#8221; of one on ones, feedback, coaching, and delegation.\u00a0 You could certainly listen to these podcasts and get up to speed, that&#8217;s how many people do it.\u00a0 If you are in a hurry, or need a refresh, then you should consider going to one of the regularly scheduled &#8220;Effective Manager Conferences&#8221;
